Be a Kilts & Songs Franchisee

We are confident that we can offer you an excellent opportunity to earn a substantial income by engaging in interesting and rewarding work

We are seeking around 70 franchisees (approx. 1 per county) plus around 8 in the Greater London area.

Building Your Customer Base

Most ‘Franchisors’ carve the country into much smaller areas and look for 1,000 franchisees or more. Our approach is different. – For the most part, we aim to have 1 franchisee in each county (approximately) – so about 70 franchisees.

This will be your own business.

Financial

Affordable Entry, Transparent Pricing:

Franchise Fee: £1,000

Monthly Rent: £40

With every franchise I’ve ever known there was a franchise fee (Which is usually considerable – often over £20,000), and an additional monthly amount which is often a percentage of sales – typically, maybe, about 10% of sales (or income).

We may describe the additional amount – the example I’ve given here being 10% of sales – as ‘rent’.

I’ll just say that 20 years ago or so I was looking round for a franchise opportunity, and there was virtually nothing under £10,000 – in fact not much under £20,000. And most ‘Franchisors’ carved the country up into much smaller ‘bits’.

Support and Earnings Potential

We will advertise quite widely. All customer enquiries in your area are passed directly to you.

The Ideal Person

The ideal person to run this franchise in their area could well be a single person, either a man or a woman, almost certainly under 50.

We are willing to consider people from all walks of life.

I think ideally we would like to find people who can use their own (sizeable) property – with at least a spacious main room and 2 bedrooms (so one can be used for changing). The alternative is to rent space which can be expensive.

The person (couples also considered, of course) should be gregarious (outgoing) with a good personality.

If you are indeed able to use your own place, apart from the franchise fee (of £1,000) the capital required is minimal.

For instance we have the idea that rather than investing in standard ‘furniture’ (several sofas, for instance), it would be just as effective (and far more economic), to literally surround the periphery of the main room with large cushions. You could probably fit 25 round a spacious room, and these would cost no more than around £500 in total.

These days you will probably have to have a decent coffee machine producing ‘real’ coffee of all types – so maybe another £300.

These days music of all types can be provided very cheaply - £150 or so should cover that.

In short I don’t see why you necessarily need more than £2,000 in total.

What You Need To Be Good At

Unfortunately the traditional methods of advertising just don’t work anymore – there would be little point in putting adverts in the local paper, for instance – you would probably find you only got 1 or 2 enquiries!

There is no doubt that these days social media is the thing, so the primary ‘accomplishment’ that the ideal person(s) will have is that they are competent at social media (preferably more than one type).

Do I Need To Be Scottish?

No, you don’t need to be Scottish – of course, you would be very welcome if you are. Ideally, you would have a ‘Scottish connection’ – perhaps a relative who is Scottish, and an enthusiasm for Scottish culture, including the wearing of kilts, of course.

Income

As you will see from the website, the entrance fee to a party will be £10, and we mentioned earlier that a spacious room might be ‘surrounded by 25 large cushions’.

So if 20-25 people paid a £10 entrance fee that would be £200 - £250 income per party. You may have to spend up to £50 in providing refreshments.

We envisage that there may be parties on 3 or maybe even 4 evenings a week.

So if thought of as a full-time income, it’s not that bad.

But really, we’re not necessarily expecting you to give up your ‘day job’: and as a part-time income it’s very good indeed.
